New Construction · Builder Review
An honest look at Hamilton Thomas Homes at Marvida in Cypress, including what the 2023 Risewell acquisition actually means if you're considering one of their homes today.
Hamilton Thomas Homes launched in Houston in 2021 as an independent, locally headquartered builder out of Katy, known for contemporary open-concept layouts and a concierge-style design center partnership with Wisenbaker. They built a genuine local reputation in their first two years, including a presence at Marvida.
What matters most for a 2026 buyer is what happened next: in December 2023, The New Home Company (now branded Risewell Homes) acquired Hamilton Thomas Homes as its entry into the Texas market. The Hamilton Thomas leadership team and lot inventory transitioned into the Risewell organization, and new sales at Marvida now happen under the Risewell name. If you're still seeing Hamilton Thomas-branded homes marketed at Marvida, you're most likely looking at remaining inventory from before the transition completed, not an ongoing independent operation.
Because this builder's independent operations wound down with the Risewell acquisition, price and product comparisons are less useful here than the practical due diligence questions. If you're looking at a Hamilton Thomas-branded home today, confirm directly whether it's genuinely new construction still being built out, or a completed spec home from before the transition sitting in remaining inventory.
Most importantly, get written confirmation of exactly which entity holds the structural warranty obligation going forward, and whether Risewell's local team is the one fielding any post-close service requests. This is exactly the kind of detail that gets lost in a corporate transition if you don't ask before you're under contract.
Is Hamilton Thomas Homes a good builder in Houston?
Their standalone track record was solid during their run as an independent Houston builder from 2021 to 2023, focused on contemporary open-concept designs with a concierge-style design center partnership. The more important thing to know today is that they were acquired in December 2023, which changes what buying a Hamilton Thomas home in 2026 actually means.
Does Hamilton Thomas Homes still build new homes?
Not under its own name going forward. Hamilton Thomas Homes was acquired by The New Home Company, now operating as Risewell Homes, in December 2023. The Hamilton Thomas leadership team and lot positions transitioned into Risewell, and new sales activity at communities like Marvida is now marketed under the Risewell name. Any Hamilton Thomas-branded inventory you see today is legacy inventory from before the transition.
What happens to the warranty on a Hamilton Thomas home after the acquisition?
This is the single most important question to ask directly if you're considering remaining Hamilton Thomas inventory: confirm in writing who is honoring the structural and workmanship warranty post-acquisition, since the entity that built the home and the entity that now operates in that community are not the same corporate structure.
