New Construction · Builder Review
An honest, insider look at price, quality, warranty, and every Houston-area master-planned community Taylor Morrison is currently building in.
Taylor Morrison is a solid, unremarkable-in-a-good-way choice in the Houston mid-market. I don't say that to damn it with faint praise — a builder that reliably delivers a consistent, well-executed floorplan without a lot of drama is genuinely valuable, and Taylor Morrison has built strong relationships with several of the higher-profile master-planned communities in this market as a result. It's not the builder with the flashiest design story or the most passionate fan base, but it's also not the builder generating the most complaints in the communities I work.
One thing worth knowing going in: Taylor Morrison has one of the better-integrated in-house mortgage operations among the builders active here, which can be genuinely convenient — but "convenient" and "best rate available" aren't the same thing. I'd always recommend getting an outside quote to compare against before assuming the in-house option is your best deal, even when the process feels smoother.
Taylor Morrison's $350s–$700s range puts them squarely in the mid-tier, competing directly with several other builders in Bridgeland and Cross Creek Ranch specifically. Floor plan quality has been consistent in what I've seen — not a builder where I'd tell you to brace for surprises, but also not one distinguishing itself architecturally the way a design-forward builder does.
Worth asking about directly: get an outside mortgage quote before defaulting to their in-house lender, and ask specifically what's standard versus what requires an upgrade in your section, since inclusions can shift between their communities even at similar price points.
Is Taylor Morrison a good builder in Houston?
Yes, generally — Taylor Morrison is a consistent, reliable mid-market builder with strong relationships in several high-profile Houston master-planned communities. It's not the most architecturally distinctive builder in the market, but build quality has been consistent.

Currently ranging from the $350s to the $700s across their active Houston communities, positioning them as a mid-tier national builder.
Is Taylor Morrison's in-house mortgage a good deal?
It can be convenient, since it's a well-integrated part of their process, but convenience isn't the same as the best available rate. It's worth getting an outside mortgage quote to compare before committing.
